Missionary Clue

I was asked to teach the FHE lesson for the military branch. As I was searching for some ideas of what to do with a bunch of guys in the military I found a pinterest idea that someone turned into a legitimate game. I figured I could make a game similar to it, but my own style and my own theme. I decided to do NAS Pensacola themed Clue. For the places I did the Galley, Port Side Movie Theater, Gym, Barracks, Beach, NEX, Food Court, and the Classroom. The tools were pass along card, testimony, service, conversation, phone, and note. For the suspects, we used each other. The object of the game was to figure out why an investigator/inactive member showed up to church. For example, it was the Busby’s at the NEX with a conversation. Another would be the Busby’s at the beach with service. It was fun, but no one figured it out. It was probably because there were a lot of guys, 9. Some got close and if we ever do anything like it again I’ll bring two boards and sets of cards and split the group.  If you want to see the game board the link is above. I was pretty proud of myself for making it.

Crocheting

SAM_1859

Since I got to Pensacola I have been trying to use my time wisely. I haven’t been too successful with Mark and the guys studying downstairs and me staying upstairs. Being confined to a small room for a couple hours, you can only do so much. Fortunately, I figured I would revived my talent in crocheting. I only know from what my friend’s mom taught me almost 2 decades ago. I went to Walmart and bought a crocheting hook, size G, and some yarn. I made myself a crocheting bag and some trivets. I didn’t use a pattern. I just guessed and tried to remember how I did it when I was younger. I thought my crocheting turned out pretty well.

Pensacola

Beaches and perfect weather (at least so far) what more could anyone ask for in a recent move. Mark and I moved to Pensacola, Florida on October 26 after a mini vacation to Birmingham, Alabama. We spent about 12 days in two different hotels. The first ten days we were at the Holiday Inn. We enjoyed the free breakfasts and fitness gym. We couldn’t get a hotel on base because all the rooms were booked for the Blue Angels’ performance. After the shows were over we got a room at the Navy Gateway. It was just in time too because we could only have up to 10 days in a hotel without having to pay for it. We needed the extra couple of days to wait for our home to be ready for moving in. We had looked around off base for a decently close apartment, but couldn’t find something that was good for our situation. Luckily the base had a town home. We decided we wanted to live on base and it has been a good decision ever since. Mark doesn’t have to get up too early to go to muster and I can get up and go with him to work out at the gym or run on the trails. We go shopping at the commissary, but we just found a grocery store called Publix that is pretty good. Pensacola has some good qualities and some that aren’t so good, but I find all places are about the same. I enjoy living life and I don’t mind living in a small place or major city. Pensacola is in the category of a small place and we’ll see how things go during this part of my adventure.
