This week for cub scouts we had our pinewood derby contest. We combined with another troop/ward so we could actually have a “real” contest. They served popcorn and lemonade at the race, but we didn’t eat any because the kids got into it before we could. Afterwards, the leaders got to do a race. This was our car. Mark and I bought the wedge and wheels at the scout shop. Then, Mark sanded the wedge down until it was nice and smooth. I used a pen and markers to color the flaming bee and side flames. Finally, Mark put in the wheels by pushing in the nails. It was tough work! We were going to sand the nails, but we didn’t have enough time. I think our car was by far the most colorful car around. I gave it the best looking car award, but we lost the race. Now we know what to do so that we can “win” next time.
