My family has a long-held tradition of making pizza every Friday night. While I didn’t make this pizza on a Friday, I did think about all the times my mom made pizza for my family. We had good pizzas that took planning and preparation and some other pizzas that were not… as well planned. I have found a good pizza take planning and preparation.
Mark and I planned this pizza. We got most of our toppings from Sunflower and bought our cheese mix, cheddar and mozzarella, from Trader Joes. I made the dough from scratch using yeast, water, sugar, salt, an egg and some flour.
Pizza making is a lot of fun; you can make each one a little differently. I like to have pepperoni, sausage, onions, peppers, and olives on my pizza. The flavor varies as you add more or less of a topping. I added mushrooms this time because we had some and Mark likes them. To me, they don’t add too much flavor.
Mark likes that I can make pizza, but I just thought it was an essential part of growing up and feeding people. There aren’t too many people who don’t like pizza, so I grew up making pizza for the missionaries and other guests. As for me, even though I am a diabetic, and pizza can do crazy things to a person’s blood glucose levels, I still love to eat it. I can choose what to put on my pizza and how “healthy” I want it to be.
